On the Border

On the Border

The demons came in great numbers, overflooding our base. We had to evacuate everyone on the deepest floor, in a vault surrounded by bedrock. They obliterated everything around us, including themselves in the end. We just had to wait it out. In the end, the two great monsters, Behemoth and Leviathan, I presume, collided and turned into fiery ash of flesh and bone. And so, we were free.

I thought the rock held us safe. But this whole time, the opposite side was completely open for the light to come in.

I stood then on the border of two worlds. The border of Communism and Nationalism. Both systems fell, and I was crossing by. I don't even know which side. I've seen graffiti of Stalin painted as Hitler, or maybe Hitler repainted to be half Stalin.

I went into the apartment of an old man, seemingly Russian, cooking for us something in a large pot. Then an old man for real came in, not sure who he was, but I called him Tavarish. Still a bit suspicious of his big smile, I asked him, "So which side were you on?" And he laughed.

Then we stood on the street as we saw all the leaders of both sides get in a car. We had an agent with them, with a bomb in his boots, but we had to shoot it! And so all of us shot, panicked, we missed. The bad guys were getting away... until I took my gun, aimed, confident in my choices, shot and...

Boom! They were gone.

It's not about choosing sides, trying to be the good guy. It's about knowing who the bad guys are. And not hesitating to kill them when you have the chance. That is how you become a MAN.
